I am a figurative oil painter working from live models and the natural environment. There is a game going on between me, the model or subject, and the medium. I enjoy oil colour, the mixing quality of the creamy medium: its possibilities, expressiveness and its power.
I was busy with life before I discovered painting. Then everything changed and colour took over. Now I am happier than ever: seeing the world differently around me - it’s full of inspiration.
I love learning and over the last 4 years have attended numerous classes and workshops at the Royal Drawing School and Hampstead School of Art in London, as well as classes in Bristol, Italy and America, drawing influence from contemporary artists including Andy Pankhurst, Hugo Grenville, Mary Qian, Clara Drummond, James Lloyd, Valerie Wiffen and Michelle Torrez.
“Colour, colour, I play with colour, hoping that some combination – even a chance combination, will say what I want.” Writer Doris Lessing would say if she was painter.
